Thanks to its privileged setting and the quality of its local produce, the Chautagne offers an unparalleled “art de vivre”. Savour our cows’ and goats’ milk cheeses, honeys and gingerbreads, nut oils, jams and jellies. 

Our local producers will be delighted to introduce you to their specialities. From the mill to the hive, from cows’ milk to goats’ milk cheese, sample the local produce and tickle your palate.


The secret of the watermill

Roue Moulin

See how walnut and hazelnut oil is produced traditionnally at the Chanaz mill. Built in 1868, le moulin de Chanaz is one of the village’s most spectacularly restored sites. 

Its bucketwheel moves the gear machinery and the millstone. This ancestral know-how produces high quality oils proper to french culinary tradition, a quality obtained by the miller’s knowledge and expertise.

La Ferme du Saget


fabrication_2Local farmhouse cheese, fromage blanc and milk for sale. Shop open from 5.30 to 7 pm. Privileged visits are organised each week, in Summer, to introduce you to them and to give you the taste for handmade goods.




La Chèvrerie de Vions

chevrerie_007The goat farm is at Vions where Sophie sells her cheeses in the morning from 9.30 to 12 and in the evening from 5 to 7 pm (opening times are subject to seasonal changes). On Sunday lunchtimes the Ferme-auberge is open but you are advised to book a week in advance.

Le Rucher de Chautagne

mielThis apiary offers honeys from different blossoms as well as other traditionnal products of the hive; royal jelly, pollen,propolis,sweets and homemade gingerbreads. Françoise Guichon’s shop is open from 9 am to 7 pm on weekend or phone for an appointment.

 L'Etoile Verte

entre_serrethis little farm products the spirulina, a nutrient rich micro algae and also medicinal and aromatic plants to make syrups, teas, pestos, vinegars. Catherine, Guillaume and Jean-François will be happy to show you round their glasshouses where the algae is cultivated organically.
